PKNE #04 - Part 4 (COMPLETE)

Welcome to next week, where this chronicle of a return is concluded. Also, as we are getting deeper into December, you may as well call this a Christmas Special due to all that snow that's burying the planet. I'll call it that so I can get Christmas out of the way.

Read the last part online in link below, and download the whole thing if you want all those 160 pages on your computer. And hey, they keep making posters out of covers.

There, that is done. Usual special thanks to the Meripihka person, whom has offered excellent assistance as she always does. Here's to more collaboration in the future.

Well, the Xadhoom goodness doesn't exactly end here in the first month of the winter season, as the official English language for the titular issue with this character has just recently been released in stores in all physical glory. Shit, I need to pick that up.

Don't worry, original double cover variants do exist, you nerds.

I hear the very next PKNE is set to come out in March next year, continuing with the usual artist rotation. Oh hey, Lorenzo's already way into drawing pages.

Ah yeah, the horde's out and the monks are getting wrecked! I will translate the living fuck out of that page one day... And I will see you all when that fateful day comes. Toodle-oo.

  1. It was okay. I feel it wasn't as good as Might and Power, but at least it wasn't the gigantic nothing that The Banks of Time turned out to be. This last issue in particular feels a bit rushed.
I would've liked to see a bit more of Bonton at the end. After seeing him so desperate to rejoin with the empire, how he rationalized everything suspicious the Avenger did, how he started being dubious but still wanted to believe so hard, you'd think the reveal of PK's trickery would hit him a lot harder.
Anyway, thanks as always for your fantastic translations!

    1. I like the banks of time, myself. What was wrong with it in your opinion?

  2. So we're gonna have to wait for like at least a year to have that ending resolved? Asshats...

Between this, the Moldrock stuff and Ducklair and One eventually returning one day, they've really set a lot of things up for the future. Waaaay too much to only get two stories/year.

All in all, I was a bit skeptical to how this would all go down, but I can't say that I was disappointed in the least. The story in concept was awesome and it's execution was mostly pretty tight, and Sciarrone just hits it out of the park with his art, which should come to the surprise of exactly no one. Mad props to everyone involved.

And to that crazy bastard translating this for us of course. What would our lives be without him?

  8. I just throught: when porphioolon grows again, Will he remember anything? Or Will manoteeyson's "mistake" Still be here?

And hopefully italian fan theories about Evronian called "Wise among us" come true.
When i read that thing about empire, pkne is no longer canon to me.

  10. Thanks so much for translating this! I gotta agree with previous commentators that although this issue was pretty great (and it was absolutely awesome seeing Xadhoom again!), but this was bittersweet.

And it's very interesting how much the Duck Avenger changed and how he himself along with the issues have gotten darker and edgier. Once, he had protested when the government wanted to eradicate a bunch of Evronian spores, now he had a hand in their destruction, even though all they wanted was to reunite with their people and prevent the other aliens from draining Earth's sun. They saved him from the initial invasion and trusted him, yet he still didn't mind seeing them destroyed. It was kind of sad. Also, it was very interesting to see how he almost turned on Xadhoom and didn't quite trust her. It seems that this PK has taken Omega's criticisms to heart: he's not quite as trusting or as merciful as he once was. And that too is bittersweet. And lastly, another great and interesting change (which I hope we see more of) is the active inclusions of Donald's family and not just cameos or passing mentions. It was great seeing Scrooge, Gladstone, Fethry and the nephews be included and even better seeing them interact with Hecks and get a step closer to Donald's PK life.

So in those aspects, this issue was great and marked a drastic, yet bittersweet change. I wish that Bonton could've been spared, too or at the very least, had a chance to say goodbye to PK and that PK had at least some regret of Boston's passing.

  11. Hey uh, Banker? Remember that forum you were using to discuss PK New Era? I just opened it up, to see if there were any new posts, and as soon as I clicked a link to go to a different forum page, I got assaulted by a bunch of pop-up messages from blockmyad.com. Just thought you should know.

  12. IDW's Duck Avenger is censored! When police Tries to arrest raider, he says; "stop or we'll use tranquilizer bullets!". In original version, police shouted; "stop or we'll shoot!". And it's not only example! Xadhoom IS claimed to be just mercenary, etc. Etc. Etc.

I'm already terrified what translator is going to do to Mekkano and Metamorphosis...........

    1. What about "The Mastifs of the Universe"? With all that alien swearing from Neopard?
Also, I got the translation of "Shadow of Venus" (I downloaded it, cuz I live on Chile and this comics won't arrive here) and they painted clothes on the lady covering herself with a towel. That's all that I've found

By the way, thanks for completing Chronicle of a Return!

    2. At least Neopard's words aren't real swear words.
But remember that guy called WestCock? In finnish translation, his name is GoWest (sounds even weirder). And general WiseCube is Kenraali (=General) Knihti. Don't ask why. There's no reason for that.

  13. So we have a date for the next PKNE story: It's coming on Topolino 3205, 3206, 3207 and 3208. So if I'm calculating correctly, that would mean April 26 and then the first three weeks of May.

  14. I'm having the hardest time figuring out the timeline between the various PK series.
Is there any way you could make a sticky with a few lines about the subject, so complete newcomers can understand it? A bit much to ask, I realize.
At any rate, thanks for your hard work.
